Really Super
Today was a more normal day. For those of you who commented that I was a super mom or something, you should have been reading more in between the lines. Laundry and dishes building up over several days... trapped in the house playing old maid because the baby is taking a nap. Eating lunch at 10:30 because I'm starving all the time.... Please. These are not signs of superness. It was a miracle to actually get all of that laundry done. The point was that the days are long, they start early, and there's a lot to do. Today we didn't leave the house until 3, and that was to go outside to play hopscotch. I just barely halfheartedly straightened the clutter that will be strewn about in about 10 more hours. The sink is filled with dishes. There are 1.5 loads of laundry to do, which will be up to 2 loads in the morning because Grace chose to wear underwear instead of pullups to bed tonight. We made pretzels and cookies for dinner and I didn't exercise today. I walked up the stairs and noticed as I do every day that the railing is extremely dusty, but I still didn't do anything about it. The laundry from yesterday is only half put away. I could go on.
We're happy and healthy, and doing good things, but super we are not.
Unless! Our baby named Clark inspires the populace to thoughts of Clark Kent (except you, Sarah Stevens, and your Gable). Someone told me the other day that it would be so so funny if he turned out to be an accountant. And if he was mild mannered. I'm pretty sure that Clark Kent's job at the major metropolitan newspaper was a reporter, but it could have been accountant. Anyway, possibly riding on Clark's super coattails, possibly I am a super mom. I mean, Superman had to have a Supermom, right?

Momming It
You know you're a mother when it's 11:30 and you've already been up for 6 hours, fed your kids and yourself twice, washed and folded 5 loads of laundry, helped build 2 forts, done all of the dishes from today and yesterday, played 3 games of old maid, planned dinner, went running/walking, actually got a shower thanks to my adoring husband, and there's still so much more to do. Good thing the day isn't even half over.

Running: Days 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Days 3 and 4 I didn't run because the shin splits were too much. But, I did walk with the girls a snail's pace (3 year old's pace) as we ran our errands.
Day 5 I boogie boarded for about an hour- that's gotta count for something, right?
Day 6 I walked quite a bit.
Day 7 I am resting.
That is the end of my chronicles of running- I need not bore you any further. I'm hoping to keep it up this next week- if I meet any milestones you'll be the first to know.

Run, Sarah, Run
After months of inactivity, I decided that it was time to work out. I decided to go running- it's one of these new-fangled fads, and you know me- always the first to go with the new-fangled fads. I've never been much of a runner. In highschool when we were supposed to run the mile in 12 minutes or less, or have to do the whole thing all over again, I was often one of the people walking the second mile. The problem I have with running is that it's unnatural for my body- I get the burning chest sensation early on, and my limbs don't seem to want to work that way. It's like I hit the wall even before I begin. I don't know when I lost the ability to run- I remember winning the 40 yard dash when I was in elementary school, although perhaps that short distance points to the distance I was able to run today. Block one was feeling pretty good. By block two I was breathing heavily. At block three and a half I had to stop- the burning chest and no breath sensation had returned and I didn't have the heart (literally) to push through it.
I'm not giving up, though! Join me the rest of this week as I chronicle half block goals reached.
