In my last potty training post someone asked what my incentive system is. Our system is multi-tiered- designed to be foolproof. Ha ha.
Everytime someone goes potty, they get four jellybeans and a sticker on the potty chart. The potty chart has randomly interspersed prizes, like going to get icecream, or going on the carousel, or getting to buy a new book at the bookstore. Lately we have been giving the girls a prize at the end of each day that they have worn underpants all day.
Although the day is not done yet, today has been slightly better than yesterday. Neither girl is great at peeing on demand (like if I tell them to sit on the potty for a while) and both girls are easily distracted around friends and don't want to take the time (or forget) to tell me. So, we're working on it. Like my friend and some random guy at the park told me, this will soon be what they do- like everyone else. But, I can't help feeling like we've been at it for too long, and that bathrooms are the main focus of my day.

Painful
I've realized lately that in my relationships with others I am more parasitic than symbiotic.
And I always thought it was the other way around.

Potty Schmotty
For about the past month we've been "potty training". This means that we have been wearing pullups except when we're at home, except when they're asleep.
I've finally decided to make the girls wear underpants (or unders, as we like to say) all the time except nap time. I figured that a few accidents would rid them of their fear of "big" potties. At home they usually use those little ones. We started using those so they could both sit on the potty at the same time. I regret it a lot, since the fear factor for the big potties is quite high, and I now cart around a "cushy seat"- one of those little seats that fits on a normal toilet seat. The cushy seat is not as good as a little potty- to them. So, today we had a total of 5 accidents. Some while we were out, some while we were at home. Today was a "holding it" day, which is kind of nice to know that they can do- hold it for about 4 hours, but not so great when the being out factor makes them lose it.
So, it gets better, right? And I'm doing the right thing by not letting them wear pullups out anymore? I must say that this is more stressful to me than sleep training. Or maybe the same stressful.
Blah.

Two Funny Things
When Paul was eating a lot of dinner and Grace said, "Dad, if you eat so much you will look like Santa." Grace may be a diet coach someday.
When the girls were in the bath pouring coffee for their bath toys. I told them that we don't drink coffee. Camille said, "Okay, Scuffy's mommy (a toy), do you want some BOFFEE?!" They both thought that was pretty hilarious. I can just see them as teenagers... "Oh, we weren't smoking, we were BOKING!"
Better not happen. Not on my watch!

My Mom Went to San Francisco and All I Got Was This Blog Post
Paul and I went to San Francisco last week for a few days while Paul attended a conference. We had a great time on our babymoon, and feel very blessed to have an awesome sister (and her husband) and an amazing friend and her family who were willing to watch the girls for us.
I totally forgot our camera, so I don't have any pictures. But, we had lots of fun, walked around a ton (want to see how slowly a pregnant woman can climb those hills? I'm sure that was Paul's favorite part...), and ate lots of good food. All our favorite things.
Below are 2 pictures of the girls with their friend Ruthie, who, according to them, took care of them while we were gone. Despite Grace's grouchy face, they all had fun, according to my sources.

Art Lover
Guys! We're in San Francisco and we passed a gallery that is selling actual Chagalls! Can I buy one? Please?!?
Update: We went in the gallery, and being the fancy pantses that we are actually got a white-gloved tour of some of the stuff that they didn't have on display. They tried to convince us that we could afford to spend $25,000 on an unsigned lithograph- they even have a payment plan! Although, I would love love love this- I guess our dreams of a future home come first. Or college for the kids. Or, you know, food. But wouldn't it be cool to have this hanging in our dowdy apartment?
We also liked this one, although it is a signed oil, and being offered at $650,000.
