A Question About Beds
Do you think that it's a good idea to have your kids in the same bed, or would it be better to have 2 separate beds?

Decorating Advice
My awesome friend Amy from Chicago, who now lives in Arizona does interior design, and is helping me spruce up my pathetic living room. Don't worry, Paul, who is currently in Hawaii (hi honey! How are the waves?), I'm not doing anything drastic.
Today I found these pillows:
Do you think that they're too big for the couch?
They're supposed to tie in with these:

which I am planning to group over the couch. The last one is a vinyl sticker with a real clock that hangs on it.
So...
Is this too much? Too matchy? Too weird? I would LOVE to hear your opinions, since you have to be more fashionable (homewise or otherwise) than me.
This is our current living room. I'm planning on having the carpet cleaned. And not constantly having junk on the floor (ha ha).
Any other good ideas?

Best Friends
Occasionally I will ask the girls who their best friends are. Whenever I do this I am hoping that they will name each other as best friends, thus demonstrating that they appreciate the unusual and fortuitous circumstance that allows them to have someone who is their exact age that they can be around all the time. The responses vary somewhat, but mostly involve silence followed by a period of thumb sucking.
Sunday, however, when I asked Camille who her best friend was, she was ready with a response--"Kitty!" A bit disappointed that she would choose an inanimate object over her own flesh and blood, I thought I'd give her another chance. "Who is your next best friend?" I asked.
She thought for a moment and then replied enthusiastically, "Second kitty!"

Toddlers or Grandmothers?
Recently while driving with the radio on, Grace said,
"Mom! It's too noisy and fast!"
That rock 'n' roll....

The Opposite of How it Always Is
Today when we were driving, the girls were sitting quietly in the backseat and I asked them if they wanted music or if they wanted quiet. Camille said quiet, so I said, "that'll be nice- we'll have a little peace and quiet!" Camille said, "where is it, Mommy? Where is it?" "The what, Camille?" "The what you just said!" I glanced at her in the rearview mirror and said, "the peace and quiet? It's a feeling, when you feel happy and good and it's not noisy." I hope that she understood me, and I hope that we can have more peaceful happy moments in our lives.

Just Me and My Dad

For Father's Day, my dad asked us to learn "Minnie's Yoo Hoo". If you know my dad, this is funny. If you don't know my dad, this is still funny. My dad loves everything Disney. He is very nostalgic and traditional (meaning that traditions are very important to him). I must have inherited some of this from him- having to have all the right foods every holiday, and certain things done a certain way. That's just how it is!
Here is our (my) rendition of Minnie's yoohoo. Please don't watch it if you're not my dad. It's really not worth it to see me sing off-key and forget the words. And it's long. Oh so long.
My dad is really funny. He loves to do impressions of people, and can't help but imitate people's voices when he is telling about his day. I do that too. Poorly. We used to ride in the back of my grandpa's truck on the 4th of July to the fireworks, and my dad would keep us all entertained as we ate the candy buckets that my grandma had prepared for us.
My dad used to play with me a lot when I was little- we always looked forward to his coming home and rolling us into "human burritos" (actually, I hated being a burrito, but loved seeing my dad). And, we would go on family outings every weekend- which might consist of 5 hours straight at Costco, or all day long at numerous furniture stores, but could also consist of a day in the mountains or at the beach or at Castle Park.
My dad loves little treats and goes through various phases. There was the mixed drink phase, the malted milk phase, and the popcorn phase- to name a few. We have a "snack party" around Christmas, with tons of cheese balls, crackers, baked beans, pickles, olives, cheesecakes and cheesecake balls, I don't know what else. Once during the malt cup phase, my sister got the extra malt cup because she hadn't ordered ice cream on her waffle at breakfast and I had.
We did lots of quirky things with my dad, but the most important thing for him was that we were having fun together as a family.
I love you dad!

Tired of Tires
In case you aren't aware, Costco is having their annual "save $60 on a set of tires" sale. I took the girls on the first day last week to get our tires, figuring that no one else would come on the actual first day! Ha! The wait was 3 hours, and after 2 hours of wandering aimlessly through Costco, the girls had had enough. We canceled our order and went home.
Today we went back for round 2. Paul ordered our tires online so they were even cheaper and we got there right at 10 when it opened. The wait was only going to be 1 1/2 hours, but I took the girls on the bus to the beach (about 5 minutes away) and we went on the pier in Venice and ate food and played in the water for a little bit. While we were out, Costco called to say that the tires were the wrong size. So, they put our old tires on because the only ones they had in stock were crazy expensive, and now we have to order even MORE tires and go back yet again!
Ah blog, what would I do without you- giving me endless opportunities to air my endless woes.

In Limbo
Paul is a great parent. He always comes up with clever activities for the girls. I am usually content to... I don't know what we do together. Read? Twiddle our thumbs? Memorize the thesaurus?
Anyways, Paul always comes up with fun and original games. The other day, he taught them how to do the limbo. How low can you go?

Happy Unbirthday, More Coming Soon!
You know, I keep meaning to post about granddad's birthday, but the time is just flying by. Here is a video of the girls singing to tide everyone over before I break out the vintage pictures of Bill. He's a super cute little lad in the pictures, and is now a super-nice grown up man, and we'll wish him all the best in the next post. Happy unbirthday!
